About PSP

The PSP Program is administered by the not-for-profit Motorcycle Industry Council. The MIC has been in existence for over 75 years, serving the interests of the Powersports industry. PSP originated at the request of the member companies, seeking a more efficient way to communicate data throughout the industry. PSP has since expanded, and is now either endorsed or implemented in four industries – Marine, Outdoor Power Equipment, Powersports, and Recreational Vehicles – since these industries all follow a similar model of dealers using business systems to communicate with multiple suppliers. A small, dedicated team operates the PSP Program under the guidance of the MIC Board of Directors.

PSP is an open set of data standards, available for adoption by all companies in the participating industries.  Adopting PSP is possible through two methods.  The most common method is to use a set of components available through the PSP Program (most common method) or by building the functionality yourself and passing certification testing.  For more information, please contact the PSP Program at (888) 395-4998 or via email at psp@mic.org.

Over time, we have continued to refine the adoption process to make it easier for companies to become PSP certified.  Implementation today typically involves exposing your system’s web services such that the PSP components can successfully connect.  The adoption process is much easier today than even just a couple years ago.
