PSP for Dealers

Currently PSP is free to dealers, and will be until at least October 2012.

One of the fundamental goals of the PSP Program is to ensure that the value delivered to dealers always significantly exceeds the fees charged.  The purpose of establishing data communication standards is to remove unnecessary costs throughout the industry, at dealers and their trading partners.

The original funding for developing the PSP data communications standards was provided by major manufacturers in the Powersports industry.  The leading Business System Vendors contributed their expertise to ensure that the data communication standards were created in a manner most beneficial to the dealerships.  Together, all parties involved collaborated to develop a solution that succeeds across multiple industries.

Currently PSP is free to dealers, and will be until at least October 2012.
A monthly service fee is envisioned for dealers to use the PSP connectivity to communicate efficiently with their trading partners.  This service fee is believed to be small in comparison to the time and efficiency savings realized by dealers for being able to communicate electronically with key trading partners right from within participating Business Management systems.  Please visit the “Dealer Benefits” section of the PSP web site for a more detailed discussion of the potential dealer benefits through using PSP.PSP Dealer Pricing Model

A portion of the monthly service fee is retained by the Business System Vendors.  Each BSV establishes the monthly service fee for dealers using their systems.  PSP may eventually receive $20 per month per dealer from the BSVs.  The BSVs may charge a service fee directly to the dealers for using PSP, or perhaps bundle the PSP functionality with other services as part of a premium service tier.  The BSVs have invested significantly in product development to enable their products to communicate using the PSP standards for data communication.  Establishing a common standard that works for so many manufacturers and suppliers, across multiple industries, has been a complex effort.  Additionally the BSVs perform the majority of the customer service associated with serving the dealerships.

The $20 monthly service fee planned is submitted by the BSVs to the PSP Program.  This portion of the monthly service fee will fund the PSP Program for the development of the technology components which enable the PSP data standards and to fund the development of additional transaction sets.  The PSP Program has already established a comprehensive set of standards relating to Parts Order, Parts Inquiry, Parts Shipment, and Product Registration.  The PSP Program will continue to develop new transaction sets in the future.
