Role of the Motorcycle Industry Council (MIC)
As an industry trade organization, the MIC’s role in PSP® standards development is to provide a forum to gain consensus, to minimize costs to the industry and to build a plan for widespread adoption. This is accomplished by providing operational support, testing support and certification for PSP Partners and Subscribers.
With the participation of industry leaders, the MIC coordinated the study, alternatives analysis and the construction of PSP. Collaborative committees made up of OEMs, aftermarket companies, dealer service providers (DSPs) and members of allied trades continue to actively participate as both technical and business advisors to PSP.
Consistent with the MIC’s charter to promote, educate, coordinate and support standards, the industry has a clear and cohesive strategy for PSP.
The MIC's sponsorship assures confidence and predictability in the evaluation and deployment of new functionality and additional features in PSP.
The MIC:
- Develops and maintains the PSP specifications.
- Provides operational support for PSP Partners/Subscribers.
- Administers testing support and PSP certification.
- Manages the private PSP Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI) service registry.
